All I wanna say about this kid is that the Steve lacy comparisons are appropriate. I really enjoyed Sweet Boy and this third Studio album seems to be just as good. Laced with heavy rnb/bedroom pop guitar Todd angelically sings about love, sex, and the frustrations that come with all that.

This is by no means a surprise collaboration but the double album in a style that both artists usually don't rap over does give it a new shine. Instead of the detuned samples were used to hearing MIKE and Earl over, Surf Gang gives us experimental melodies and hard hitting trap drums that remind me a lot of Lucki. Thundercat
Thundercat is one of my favorite artists ever and continues to become an inspiration. The sonics on this album are nothing necessarily new (since some of these songs did did leak a few years ago) but are still incredible pieces of work. Stand out tracks for me are No More lies, A.D.D through the roof, I wish I Didn't Waste Your Time, and the posthumous She knows to much with Mac miller.

Even if it is not this album in a lot of ways feels like a grand goodbye. The band has been on the forefront of unique music in the mainstream for the better part of a decade and come back with a list of new collaborators. Drawing inspiration this time from Far east influences such as India and Indonesia the sonic palette in this might not be what the average GORILLAZ fan is used to.

Kelela
Kelela is probably the most influential female rnb/experimental artist in the last decade. This album is pushing on the boundaries established in Raven. New Avatar with songs like the Bridge with Pinkpanthress and break-beat bounce on point blank or crystalize all feel like genre pushing songs. I just hope Kelela keeps pushing the envelope.
