Three Sides of One (CD)

KING'S X
This is the last CD I have purchased, and probably the only one in the past 5 years or so. I was a full 2 years late picking up what I believe is the BEST HARD ROCK RECORD OF THE PAST DECADE and one of the best of their career after a 14(!) year recording hiatus. All three members sing multiple songs on this highly diverse, mature album. One thing that really separates this record from their previous recordings is the really amazing fully analog production of the album. It's a timeless grower!!! Read more

The Pious Bird of Good Omen (LP)

Fleetwood Mac
I have been on an early Fleetwood Mac rampage lately, going as far as lending LPs to people who did not actually ask for them. My favorite of these albums has to be "The Pious Bird of Good Omen." With songs like Albatross, Black Magic Woman, and Jigsaw Woman Blues, how could someone not fall in love? Read more

Little Girl Blue (CD)

Nina Simone
There is something magical about this album. It is sweet, serene, and sorrowful. I often find myself turning towards "Little Girl Blue" in times of deep introspection. Read more

Desire, I Want to Turn Into You (LP)

Caroline Polachek
If it were up to me, everyone would be listening to Caroline Polachek morning, noon, and night. A lyrical mastermind, a visionary, and a true artist; this girl has got it going on. Read more

This Wasn't Meant For You Anyway (LP)

Lola Young
Raw, cutting pop-rock that is fierce, funny and is as emotional as it is empowering. The song "Messy" popped off in 2024 on TikTok with it's airy alt-rock feel, but the album has several moods. There are ebbs and flows of softer acoustic moments like the folk-leaning "You Noticed" and guitar-heavy anthems like "Conceited" (my favorite on the album). It's a refreshing record about relationships and her approach, vocally and otherwise, makes Lola Young a standout rocker and rising star. Read more

Who Let The Dogs Out (LP)

Lambrini Girls
Brash and bold punk that speaks righteous truths about misogyny, homophobia and institutional cruelties of all kinds. The British duo will make make you want to respectfully, flip some tables and throw some chairs in the name of fury and fun. It's c*nt. Read more

No Way To Relax When You're On Fire (LP)

Dora Jar
Northern California-based singer/songwriter Dora Jar is constantly infusing the bold with the weird, sounding completely familiar and also extremely new. This record is no different. Dora is a shapeshifter with a sugary vocal and stunning production inclinations that have a throwback electronic slant though also palatable enough to be played on pop radio. Having opened for Billie Eilish and soon to tour with Gracie Abrams, she's cemented herself as an incredible performer and unconventional pop star, pushing limits and creating a realm of her own. What A Devastating Turn of Events (CD)

Rachel Chinouriri
A completely underrated pop/rock record of 2024. Rachel expertly packs in hooky, grunge driven songs alongside tender, airy reflections without sacrificing intricate narrative and vulnerable expressions about upending the status quo. It's a stellar debut from the Zimbabwean-English artist and I simply cannot wait to see what she does next. Read more

MUNA (LP)

MUNA
The world's greatest gay pop band. This Los Angeles-based trio not only have fantastic instincts in the world of pop and performance, but their personalities also shine through so brightly. This record is about being a queer person about the world, equal parts hitting the dance floor to keep the party going and strapping on your roller blades for a existential ride around town in a mini skirt. Alligator Bites Never Heal (LP)

Doechii
Honestly, what can I say that you don't already know? If you're reading this in 2025, it's likely been impossible to ignore the absolute powerhouse that is rapper Doechii and the her third mixtape. She raps with confidence, wit and flavor, speaking on navigating mental health, pressures of fame and imposter syndrome. She let's loose, let's go and breathes (sometimes hyperventilating) through it all. Read more
