Genuine Dexterity (LP)

K-the-I??? & Kenny Segal
Backwoods brings us another tasty album. Excellent angular rhythms with outsider type of weirdness that has plenty of artistic integrity that works perfectly with the lyrical masterpieces being spit out. Seriously good. Get this before it’s gone. Read more

Opera (BLU)

Dario Argento
One of the last truly great Argento films. Severin does right by a great scan and whatever other juju they do to make this look as great as possible. Comes as a 4k UHD/Blu Ray pack too. Packed with a ton of great extras, this makes it a worth while upgrade from older releases. Read more

A Simple Plan (BLU)

Sam Raimi
Arrow video is another company that I have come to trust when it comes to restoring/remastering a film. A Simple Plan looks great, sounds great and was another worth while upgrade from my dvd. Read more

Silent Night, Deadly Night

Charles Seller
You get 1 4k of theatrical release and 1 Blu-ray of Theatrical release and 1 Blu-ray of the Unrated version. Again, defiantly a better presentation than my older dvd with plenty of extras, Don’t punish yourself and don’t be naughty, this is another worthwhile upgrade. Read more

Heavy Metal (CD)

Cameron Winter
Lovely folk with completely absurd lyrics. Something about it though is just so charming I can’t help but to love it. Like a cross between Silver Jews, Daniel Johnston, and the National’s first album. Filed in: Rock Read more

MJ Lenderman
Music for parking your yacht in the himbo dome. Filed in: Rock Read more

Realistic IX (CD)

Belong
Shoegaze underdogs return with new music for the first time in 13 years and it doesn’t disappoint! I’ve always thought this band’s sound was underappreciated; especially with the recent wave of shoegaze fanatics emerging everywhere. Imagine MBV doing coldwave and ambient music and you have these guys. Also be sure to grab the reissue of their album “Common Era” while you’re here. Filed in: Rock Read more

Samurai Champloo Music Record- Impression and Departure (CD)

Nujabes
Badass music for a badass anime. Also perfect for studying or relaxing. Long live the Lofi hip hop GOAT! Filed in: Hip-Hop or Soundtracks Read more

Cosmic American Music: Motel California (CD)

My favorite Numero Group compilation got a sequel and boy I tell ya, it’s good! Warm psychedelic folk and country for the hillbilly hippie in everyone. Filed in: Country Read more

The Moon and the Melodies (CD)

Cocteau Twins & Harold Budd
When a legendary dream pop group collaborates with a legendary new age composer, you get one of the best ambient albums of 1986. Nice to see this one reissued and remastered on both CD and wax. It’s a classic. Filed in: Rock (under Cocteau Twins) or New Age (under Harold Budd) Read more

The New Sound (CD)

Geordie Greep
Channeling the likes of Sinatra, Zapa, Boredoms, and salsa music, Geordie’s debut album lives by its title. A jazz fusion from hell full of equally chaotic storytelling. It’s amazing! R.I.P. Black Midi… Filed in: Rock (under Black Midi) Read more

No Title As Of 13 February 2024 28,340 Dead (CD)

Godspeed You! Black Emperor
I’m completely blown away by this album! For whatever reason it just clicked with me more so than any of their other recent works. Something about the delay on those guitar lines just hits so hard. It’s easily my favorite post-rock album of 2024. Filed in: Rock Read more

The Bad Fire (CD)

Mogwai
I drifted away from Mogwai some time after “Rave Tapes”... but tuned back in for this album and, yup, they’re still a great band! Filed in: Rock Read more

September 23rd (CD)

William Basinski
A piece that was originally recorded in 1982 but unearthed in 2024. It’s literally just 40+ minutes of a repeated piano line over spooky drones yet somehow it evokes so much emotion. Everytime I put it on I end up listening to it from start to finish which doesn’t happen often with long pieces like this. Only the disintegration loops master could pull that off. Read more

Fauxllennium (LP)

George Clanton & TV Girl
The collab I didn’t think I needed until I got it. It just makes sense that vaporwave’s top dog would work with the current biggest indie pop band. And their individual sounds compliment each other so well; woozy but groovy. What a way to close out 2024. Filed in: Rock or Electronica Read more

Reflections Vol. 2: Black Decelerant (LP)

Black Decelerent
By far the best ambient album of 2024. Period. Filed in: Experimental Read more

Grapes Upon The Vine (LP)

TV Girl
TV Girl goes gospel! It seems like most of the band’s fanbase found this record pretty underwhelming… but for whatever reason I loved it on first listen. It reminds me so much of Moby’s “Play” with the use of old blues samples and soulful backing vocals. In all honesty, this is probably my favorite record of theirs next to “French Exit.” Don’t skip it! Filed in: Rock Read more
