Saved! (LP)

Reverend Kristin Michael
FKA Lingua Ignota, Kristin Hayter went crazy with this one. It makes me feel like I'm in a horror movie set in a tiny, old-timey, appalachain church. It's joyful and it's scary and it's haunting and it's weird and it's perfect <3 Read more

An Object in Motion (LP)

Drab Majesty
Usually they're very goth/darkwave but they have a dream pop BANGER on this one. Also one of the songs features Rachel Goswell from Slowdive. Some acoustic guitar on here too. Very good. VERY GOOD! Read more

Pauline Anna Strom
San Francisco's finest new age composer and spiritual healer. This box set collects 3 of Pauline's early albums from the 80's along with her 2023 release. The music sounds as beautiful as the packaging of this box looks. It’s everything a Pauline Anna Strom fan could ask for. Read more

Foxy (CD)

Sparkle Division
A collaboration between modern tape loop genius William Basinski and sound engineer, Preston Wendel. Instead of hauntingly soothing ambient, the duo makes a fun hybrid of swanky lounge and chill downtempo. The end result... foxy B) Read more

Scaring The Hoes (CD)

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown
Let's face it, we all knew this album would be a banger when it was first announced. It definitely delivered! The production is raw, the samples are wild, and the bars are completely unhinged. It’s crazy that these 2 psychopaths made an album together but I’m glad they did. It’s easily my 2023 album of the year. Worth all the hype and then some. Read more

Blanket (CD)

Kevin Abstract
Kevin’s first solo album since “Arizona Baby” and post-BROCKHAMPTON. Even without the rest of the boys, Kevin is a master of writing a catchy melody. He really leaned into grunge territory on this one which I loved quite a bit. But at its core, it’s still the sadboy pop we know him best for making. This album is also one of the only Kevin Abstract albums you can get on CD- the other being “American Boyfriend” which goes for an annoying amount of money on Discogs. Longbox version not available in store. Read more

SAVED (CD)

Reverend Kristin Michael
Best known as Lingua Ignota, Kristian Hayter was quickly revitalizing the neo-classical darkwave genre with a pair of frightening yet powerful releases in 2019 and 2021, respectively. But in 2023, she retired the moniker due to the contents of her music being too “excruciating to perform” as it kept making her relive her past traumas. Thus her new moniker, Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter, was born and with it came her awesome debut album “SAVED.” Here, Hayter continues to explore that neo-darkwave sound but now with a gospel twist. Complete with deteriorating Victrola samples and a warped choir, the album is a disturbing epic praising the Lord and/or hailing Satan. Find it in the Experimental section, not Gospel. Read more

Intercepted Message (CD)

Osees
Did not expect the synth-punk approach to this one but MAN is it good! The opening track blends nicely in with Combo’s newest album (see above). Plus the addition of “The Fish Needs A Bike” cover was a nice surprise. Read more

After The Magic (CD)

Parannoul
There's an amazing music scene happening in Seoul, of all places. Tons of emo, shoegaze, and post-rock bands from the area have been dropping one killer album after another with Parannoul being the most notable. Though he keeps a very low profile, his music has made a huge impact- especially in the states; “To See The Next Part of the Dream” is strongly recommended if you like bittersweet lo-fi music rooted in nostalgia. “After The Magic” is a much more polished sounding album but noisy and euphoric in the best way possible. This is a must-listen. Big shout out to Longinus Records and Topshelf Records for putting out Parannoul’s works in the US. Read more

I’m thrilled to be seeing Yoshimura’s discography slowly getting reissued one album at a time. “Music For Postcards” and “Green” seem to always get the most attention but this one is just as good. Top tier Japanese ambient/new age from the 80’s. Read more

Nice to see this one get a reissue. Great droney shoegaze with a hint of trip hop. The remaster sounds excellent AND it also includes the songs from the Drop EP. Amongst Kranky's vast catalog, this is one to own. Read more
