Ariana Grande's petal deserves all the buzz. Grande has shared that the album finds her in a more experimental mode, tackling emotions and experiences she'd previously shied away from. Rage, struggle, and release are the undercurrents powering the album and there's a real emotional "oomph" to these beautiful, often downbeat songs. Grande's bigger-than-life voice adds a cinematic quality to these moody pop earworms. It's some of her best and most intriguing work. petal is an impressive evolution.
