Amoeba Review

Goat Girl's second studio album shows the post-punk group venturing into some new territory, musically and lyrically. "Sad Cowboy" and "The Crack," for example, lean into more standard melodic indie rock despite some interesting rhythms, but "Badibaba" is moody and angular with a walking bassline and some starts and stops. Elsewhere tracks like "Jazz (In A Supermarket)" experiment further; it's the first time the band has written the songs altogether and they've added electronics and other elements to their DIY sound. Singer Lottie Cream addresses broader social issues, depression, gender identity and male privilege (especially on "P.T.S. TEA") this time around, in her soft but steely vocals.
