Neu! 75 (CD)
Neu!
Amoeba Review
Tiffany Anders 06/03/2010
After the strenuous making of their previous album Neu! 2, Neu! took a break to work on other projects and returned three years later with their fully realized final album Neu! 75. On Neu! 75 the band utilizes synthesizers and piano to create dreamy melodies set to the classic Neu! backdrop of metronymic drums. Primarily an instrumental band, this album surprisingly also features vocals by Klaus Dinger. The album opens with "Isi," a driving and optimistic piece featuring gorgeous piano. "Hero" features Dinger's aforementioned vocals on this new wave/punk tune, a characteristic that makes the song incredibly ahead of it's time. The true shining moment of the album, however, goes to "E- Musik" a kraut rock gem, with layered melodic synths, phased drums and rhythmic guitar. Neu! 75 leaves you wanting more from this incredible band and it is unfortunate that this is where it ends, but at the very least, we can definitely say it ends with a stellar final hoorah.
