Guster returns after four years with an eclectic new album, Look Alive. Hooks are strong and reinforced with light electronic elements, for example on the poppy “Don't Go.” “Hello Mister Sun” stands out for its 60s-influenced whimsy, and then there's the cheeky “Overexcited,” with its bouncy synths and verses sung in an English accent. Despite the sunny melodies - “Summertime,” for example, really lives up to its title and soars - the lyrics on Look Alive address coming to terms with getting older and facing middle-aged life.
