Better Broken (CD)
Sarah McLachlan
Amoeba Review
Sarah McLachlan returns with her first album of new material since 2014's Shine On. Better Broken is here to remind us that the Canadian artist's distinctive voice is as lovely as ever and her songwriting just as solid. The title track is a soulful, slightly funky song with a subtle hook in the chorus. "Gravity" is a ballad with romantic strings but it features a stirring melody that keeps it from becoming sleepy. Katie Gavin joins her on "Reminds Me" which offers a gentle twang and a sweetly uplifting chorus.
