Sebadoh sounds tighter than ever on Act Surprised, their first album in six years. The hooks are mighty, the songwriting smart, the riffs rough and ready. The band’s signature lo-fi sound is as lively as ever; in fact, the tracks sound like they could’ve easily come from one of the band’s classic albums while the band’s lyrical concerns seem completely contemporary.
