If you're into shoegaze, post-punk, industrial, or any combination of the three, this album has your number, Daniel Avery's Tremor is captivating from the very first moody moments, with the British DJ/producer recruiting an all-star cast of collaborators to imbue these exceptional tracks with deep emotional resonance and utterly gorgeous vocals. Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Walter Schreifels (Quicksand / Rival Schools), bdrmm, Julie Dawson (NewDad), yeule, Ellie, Art School Girlfriend, yunè pinku, and Cecile Believe deliver standout and often surprising performances. Cecile Believe's turn on "Rapture in Blue" is a heart-in-your-throat dream pop track that drips with longing and desire. Alison Mosshart is scary cool before becoming a full-on menace on the industrial-informed "Greasy off the Racing Line." Julie Dawson sings like a siren over early Cocteau Twins-esque arrangements on "The Ghost of Her Smile." A ridiculously beautiful, entrancing album.
