Influential Japanese psych compilation, Tokyo Flashback was first released in 1991 by PSF Records (Psychedelic Speed Freaks, which should give you some indication of what this sounds like), and is now reissued 26 years later by Black Editions. The '80s Tokyo underground psych scene, which this compilation documents, was populated by a handful of bands that seemingly got lost in space at a Hawkwind show in ’72 and never returned. This is raw, raw, RAW psychedelic rock, with fuzzy, tripped out guitar explorations over frantic grooves, blending into hypnotic walls of sound and landing in sonic territory somewhere between Blue Cheer, Krautrock, and No Wave.
