The Heart Of Saturday Night [50th Anniversary Raspberry Beret Color Vinyl] (LP)
Tom Waits

Amoeba Review
Tom Waits' 1974 second studio album, The Heart of Saturday Night, marks its 50th anniversary with this lovely reissue. An album inspired by Jack Kerouac, the Great American songbook, jazz clubs, piano bars, love and lust, it gave us classics like the swooning title track and the bluesy "New Coat of Paint" - songs filled with rich imagery and world-weary romanticism. Waits fans who mostly know him for his later, gravel-throated avant-garde stylings might be surprised by this more romantic side of the idiosyncratic artist. For everyone else, it's simply a good time to revisit a classic.
