The Beths are back with the energetic and enjoyable Straight Line Was A Lie. Hooky, rough-and-tumble, and sometimes deeply vulnerable, the melodies fuse indie rock, power pop, and folk. Thematically, Straight Line Was a Lie is some of the most insightful indie songwriting in recent memory; the songs detail the confusing experience of going through hard, transformative experiences, only to sometimes feel like you're right back where you started from. Growth is cyclical, constant, and nonlinear, the band explains, and while that's often a hard pill to swallow, it's a little easier with this warmhearted album as a companion.
