Tell Me How You Really Feel [Red Color Vinyl] (LP)
Courtney Barnett
Amoeba Review
05/16/2018
No sophomore slump here. On her highly anticipated second LP, Tell Me How You Really Feel, Courtney Barnett comes out swinging, delivering more of the forthright, charming lo-fi indie rock fans have come to love. While the melodies are still upbeat, however, there’s a bit of underlying melancholy, a tinge of darkness in her lyrics. There is, after all, a track called “Crippling Self Doubt And A General Lack Of Self Confidence,” a rousing, entertaining number about a very difficult way of being — that features the legendary Kim Deal on backing vocals! Fresh, fun, and effortlessly cool, this new collection of songs is just the ticket.
