The new album from British artist Meemo Comma (Lara Rix-Martin of Planet Mu) is heavily influenced by science fiction, anime films and Jewish mysticism. Thus Neon Genesis: Soul Into Matter² is fascinatingly unique, an imaginary anime soundtrack, playfully interspersing synths and electronic beats with Kabbalistic text read in digitally manipulated voices. The instrumental "Tikkun Olam" is gorgeous and mesmerizing; "Genesis 8:22 - Annihilation" is a short segment of deep-voiced robots speaking. "Neon Genesis: Title Sequence" is a delightful swirl of bubbling sounds, chants and breakbeats.
