Mount Zero is the debut album from Australia's much-buzzed-about Swapmeet. Fans of '90s indie and slowcore will dig this eclectic, thoughtful, dynamic collection of songs. The album is guitar-driven and emotionally affecting, with a side of nostalgia and yearning baked into the band's exploration of first loves and first heartbreaks, paths aborted or diverted. These themes serve as an undercurrent throughout the album, even as the various band members contribute songs with their own voice and POV. Moments of introspection and fragility shine through bedroom pop. Regret and confusion dance through swirling guitars and downbeat melodies. Mount Zero is a must hear.
