Lido Pimienta adds more traditional Colombian sounds to her electro-pop style on her sophomore album Miss Colombia. Her lush voice elevates these hip, hybrid sounds, at times reminding one of Emel Mathlouthi or Bjork, as on the excellent "No Pude." The draw is not just her gorgeous melodies, but also the mostly Spanish lyrics that focus on racism and sexism, heavy with experience. "Coming Thru" is especially beautiful and haunting; "Resisto Y Ya" is joyful and inspiring.
