In case the fans of Osees (Oh Sees & Thee Oh Sees) felt that the 17-track Face Stabber was not quite enough music last year, the band has released Metamorphosed, featuring five tracks from those same sessions. With the last two tracks coming in at 14 and 23 minutes, there's no shortage of energetic psych-rock here. "Saignant" is fast and furious - punk rock with psychedelic guitar licks - and "Electric War" contrasts thrashing verses with a bubbling cosmic chorus. Things slow down for the 14-minute groovy headtrip that is "The Virologist" and then speed up a bit for the long closer "I Got A Lot," which feels like a controlled, sustained frenzy. The prolific band's intensity is ever present.
