Amoeba Review

M83's latest is an antidote to disillusionment and an ode to connection. I Wrote You A Letter is spectacular, a bold, shimmering, transcendent album, awash in dream pop ethereality and shoegaze textures. Anthony Gonzalez wrote the album in search of greater spontaneity, inspired by the ethos of the original punk rock era. He succeeded. These songs swell with emotion, from the soft and intimate to the grandiose and overwhelming. At times they seem to touch the sacred. A gripping, cathartic, resplendent album.
