Foster The People - Biography

Foster The People is an indie pop band from Los Angeles featuring Mark Foster (vocals, guitar), Cubbie Fink (bass), and Mark Pontius (drums). Formed in 2009, they posted their song "Pumped Up Kicks" as a free download online. It became an enormous Top 40 hit for the band, eventually making it to number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. To tide fans over until the full-length was finished, they released a self-titled EP in January 2011 that included "Pumped Up Kicks." After buzz-inducing performances at South by Southwest and Coachella, they released their debut full-length, Torches (Columbia), in May 2011. The band has maintained a hectic touring schedule that included Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and Saturday Night Live.
