Big-hearted and big on crunchy indie rock riffs, Margaret Glaspy's Echo The Diamond is a treat. Co-produced by Glaspy and her partner, guitarist/composer Julian Lage, the album features drummer David King (The Bad Plus) and bassist Chris Morrissey (Andrew Bird, Lucius, Ben Kweller). Lead single "Act Natural" is a natural ear worm, a warm, easy-to-love song about not (visibly) falling apart during an encounter with what might be love at first sight. "Memories" is bittersweet and moving, an excellent companion for anyone trying, and failing, to get over lost love. With lyrics this insightful and melodies this strong, Echo the Diamond shows Glaspy shining at her brightest.
