After the death of their daughter, distraught couple Laura and John Baxter (Julie Christie, Donald Sutherland) travel to Venice on vacation where they encounter an elderly psychic plagued by visions of their dead child. When John begins experiencing paranormal flashes of his own, the lovers soon find their lives spiraling out of control.
