Amoeba Review
08/04/2020
On Close It Quietly, Frankie Cosmos returns with a more grown-up take on their usual lo-fi charm. Frontwoman Greta Kline turns her lyrical focus inward on this smart, introspective collection of songs, singing about personal growth, the “excruciating” daily news cycle, and misogyny. Beneath it all are the band’s likable K Records-influenced indie pop/garage melodies, sounding lusher and livelier than ever. An inviting, easy-to-love album that showcases Kline and co’s impressive songwriting chops to great effect.
