Amoeba Review

Acclaimed jazz vocalist and arranger Tyreek McDole has released his second studio album, CHROMA. A collaboration with producer and trumpeter/composer Theo Croker, the album features both originals and new arrangements of tracks by artists like Nina Simone, Andre 3000, and Kendrick Lamar. The percussion on McDole's hypnotic versions of Simone's "Wild Is The Wind" and André 3000's "She's Alive" keeps them stirring and arresting. His voice is rich and velvety, bursting into scatting and vocal improvisation on the original track "Confession", which features dynamic grooves and bluesy rhythms.
