Careful! (CD)
Deeper
Amoeba Review
Post-punk's not dead. On Careful, their first album for Sub Pop, Chicago's Deeper breathes fresh life into the genre as they get urgent, angular, and experimental. Inspired by what singer/guitarist Nic Gohl calls "Bowie’s most coked-out productions," the tracks incorporate elements of new wave, synthpop, darkwave, and indie into a blend that's emotionally potent and sonically powerful. The tracks are about making mistakes, caring and not caring, finding connections and losing them. You can dance to these songs, or if you're in the mood, you can brood to them. Careful is truly excellent and deserves a listen. You'll want to keep coming back to this one.
