All The Beauty And The Bloodshed [Criterion] (BLU)
Laura Poitras
Synopsis
In the '70s and '80s, photographer and activist Nan Goldin became celebrated for her studies of new wave and LGBT urban subcultures and the emerging AIDS crisis. In the late 2010s-having weathered a near-fatal addiction to OxyContin-she spearheaded an awareness movement calling out art institutions that have accepted philanthropy from the Sacklers, owners of the drug's manufacturer, Purdue Pharma. Her remarkable life and current endeavors get memorably limned in Laura Poitras' documentary portrait. 122 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English DTS HD 5.1 Master Audio; Subtitles: English (SDH); featurettes; theatrical trailer.
