Country music doesn't get much better than Morgan Wade's fantastic The Party is Over (recovered). (The "recovered" part of the title is a reference to several of the songs on the album that date to before Wade's major label deal; they've been rerecorded and collected here.) Wade's voice is both rousing and super sweet, calling to mind classic country chanteuses. She sings of bad decisions, questionable (but inexorable) attractions, and heartbreak, bringing in elements from punk rock, the blues, grunge, and R&B. The Party is Over (recovered) is emotionally searing and also super exciting — Wade is a remarkable talent and this album is a satisfying, eclectic listen.
