The fourth installment in director Robert Rodriguez's popular Spy Kids franchise, the film focuses on ex-spy Marissa Cortez Wilson (Jessica Alba, Sin City), who is forced out of retirement to battle the nefarious Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven, Old School).

Machete star Danny Trejo returns as Uncle Machete, as do Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara (Spy Kids, Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams, and Spy Kids 3: Game Over) to the roles of Carmen and Juni Cortez, and new to the series are Joel McHale (The Informant!) and Ricky Gervais (The Invention of Lying).
