Superchunk's Songs in the Key Of Yikes hits just right. There are some truly fantastic, chugging riffs here, with guitar melodies so good you'll remember what it was like to fall in love with rock 'n' roll for the very first time. The choruses are ultra catchy and sometimes downright sunny — an intriguing contrast to Mac McCaughan's inspiration for the album, the idea that everyone's going through their own stuff and that we're not always aware. So, Songs in the Key of Yikes serves as a sort of companion for our worst days, a record to turn up loud, let it all out, and know you're not going through it all alone.
