The Secret Sisters
Amoeba Review
07/21/2020
The Secret Sisters’ new album is the first to feature Laura and Lydia Rogers singing individually instead of their trademark continuous harmony, and it adds a strong sense of dynamics and emphatic moments to these hauntingly beautiful songs. The single, “Cabin,” is lush, dark Americana, reflecting the album’s themes of loss, and “Hold You Dear” is a bone-deep ballad with stirring piano and sweet violin that may give you goosebumps. By contrast, “Hand Over My Heart” is floaty, upbeat folk-pop with swirls of keyboard.
