Bad Suns part ways with their previous post-punk influences, embracing strong melodic hooks and radio-friendly anthems for Mystic Truth. The melodic but driving “Away We Go” welcomes you into that familiar soundscape, but gives a sly nod to the past with the angsty guitar solo spooling out at the very end. Elsewhere, little touches like the Interpol guitar riffs in the bridge for “Hold Your Fire” belie the straightforward but well-crafted pop of tracks like “One Magic Moment” and “A Miracle, A Mile Away.”
