Mausoleum [Indie Exclusive Vinyl] (LP)
Provoker
Amoeba Review
Provoker enter shadowy realms on their new album, Mausoleum. The band writes gloomy, driving tracks with roots in post-punk, shoegaze, and indie rock. Loss and regret haunt the album...yet somehow the listening experience never veers into moroseness, and always feels like a good time. Perhaps some of that effect is due to the production by Kenny Beats. With a long list of production credits for the likes of experimental R&B and rap faves like FKA twigs, Denzel Curry, and Freddie Gibbs, Beats artfully balances the album's melancholic tone with enough rock 'n' roll grit and pop appeal to create something truly intriguing. Mausoleum showcases Provoker at their best.
