Sister (LP)
Ultraista
Amoeba Review
Ultarista has to be one of contemporary music’s hippest supergroups. That’s why it’s a pretty big deal that after eight years in between albums, vocalist Bettinson, drummer Joey Waronker, and producer/engineer/musician Nigel Godrich are back in session. The band’s long-awaited sophomore album, Sister, was well worth it, thankfully. The album confidently balances its pop sensibilities with its indie leanings; the result is a collection of tracks that are danceable yet enduring, catchy yet cool. Very few acts can pull off this formula, but Ultraista does it with aplomb.
