Ashe knows there’s magic in the opening moments of a new night. There’s an enchantment in the time when the sun shrinks out of eyesight and the sky turns pale blue, inviting stars to begin winking down subtly – a tease to what the next few hours may bring.

Some reserve this time for reflection. It’s an hour to sink into a chair of old, worn leather, with an extra dirty martini in one hand and a well-traveled book in the other. For others, nightfall brings possibility, where limitless constellations could emerge from the fading glow of another day.

And if there’s a soundtrack for the opening heartbeats of dusk, it’s The Girl Of Your Dreams, a new album from Ashe – an artist who can be trusted to write songs that are as ambitiously cinematic as they are grounded in the messiness of life.

“I feel like I’ve been doing this for 10 years now,” said Ashe, the singer-songwriter known for Platinum-certified single “Moral of the Story” and as one-half of The Favors, a duo she co-founded with indie artist-producer FINNEAS. She continued, “Over that time, I’ve chipped away everything that wasn’t Ashe and now I feel like I’m looking at an album that feels very much actualized. The most actualized.”

Her fourth solo album and first full-length since inking a deal with Atlantic Records, The Girl Of Your Dreams reunites Ashe with producer Noah Conrad, who co-wrote “Moral of the Story” and has worked with Chappell Roan, Role Model and BTS. The album follows 2024 release Willson, which completed a trilogy that included sophomore effort Rae and breakout debut, Ashlyn.

For the new album, Ashe sheds the heaviness of Willson, an independent album produced in the aftermath of a mental breakdown that led her to temporarily leave music. In her latest chapter of creativity, Ashe finds herself leaning into the artists that make up much of her musical foundation – ABBA, The Beach Boys, The Beatles and Queen among them.

“I’m having a better time than I’ve ever had making a record and releasing a record,” Ashe said. “Willson was so emotionally-charged, ‘cause I had just come out of this mental breakdown and time off. It was my first independent record. I was very precious about it. Protective about it. It was quote-unquote my healing album. This is … we’re healed. I’m healed.”
