BIO:

Coco Jones has captivated the world with her timeless artistry, sensual voice and emotive songs to become R&B’s breakout artist. In 2024, she was nominated for an impressive five Grammy Awards—including the coveted Best New Artist accolade— and won for Best R&B Performance for her sultry hit “ICU.” This next chapter finds the 26-year-old multihyphenate singer/songwriter and actress embarking on her new single, “Here We Go” and stepping into an era of empowerment and connection.

“Here We Go” chronicles the vicious pattern of heartbreak— trying to get over someone and endlessly being pulled back in. “How come when I see your name on my lock screen, I already know what it means/I was rolling in his bed, you was rent-free in my head, I thought I was done with that lease.” Produced by Cardiak (Drake, Kendrick Lamar, H.E.R., PARTYNEXTDOOR) and Kelvin “Wu10” Wooten (J. Cole, Jazmine Sullivan), the song samples Lenny Williams’ simmering 1978 soul ballad “Cause I Love You,” and features writing by Coco, longtime collaborator Sara Diamond and cousin Sydney Floyd. “It’s the impossible mission to move on from this chapter, from this person, from this cycle,” she explains. “I want the song to feel like real life.”

Relatability is a central theme of Coco’s forthcoming album and she is excited to build on this momentum from her first project. With experience under her wing, she can lean into what scared her the first time around. “I really wanted to let my gut lead this time. With my ep I was very afraid. Afraid of making the wrong decision. Afraid of it not being well received and of making definitive choices.” Jones is more confident and self-assured with success on her side. She’s ready to connect to her fans, flaws and all. “My journey and your journey are the same. You get me; I get you.”

Coco Jones was raised in Nashville, TN by a mother who was also a singer, and a father who played in the NFL. Early on, she learned the importance of following her dreams. “That was kind of the upbringing that our parents wanted us to have: ‘Whatever you’re passionate about, as long as you work for it, we’ll support you. We’ll help cultivate that.’” She began recording at the age of 9 and was called to acting—first as a recurring guest on Disney’s musical sketch comedy, So Random!, and in 2012, as the golden-voiced love interest in the network’s TV movie, Let It Shine. Since then, she’s showcased her formidable acting skills playing Hilary Banks in Peacock’s Fresh Prince reboot, Bel-Air and Netflix’s Vampires vs. the Bronx. Her visibility has made her a role model for beautiful and talented dark-skinned Black women. "I always wanted that representation that my dreams were possible growing up," she shares.

Being an actor has given Jones a unique empathy that she translates into music. "It definitely informs my music because I like to tell stories in my songs,” she says. “My actor mind will put me right there." This confessional style began making waves with 2018’s “Just My Luck,” a defiant anthem against the entertainment industry (“Does my confidence offend you?” she wonders. “Cookie-cutter enough for you? Is my melanin offensive?”). She signed with High Standardz/Def Jam in 2022 and released the EP What I Didn’t Tell You with the lead single “ICU,” which has been certified platinum. The song was lauded by fans and critics alike and peaked at #1 on the Billboard R&B Airplay chart, leading to Best New Artist wins at the BET Awards , The Soul Train Awards and NAACP Image Awards.
