Fake Moon (CD)

Amoeba Review
Fake Moon, the second studio album by Toronto duo cleopatrick, is a lo-fi, melancholy affair, which makes it an intriguing departure from their grunge-heavy debut. Sludgey, dreamy guitar sounds and distant, disaffected vocals are the theme here, and the mood sinks in its teeth from the start with slow-building tracks "Heat Death" and "Bad Guy." But elsewhere, tracks like "Big Machine" and "Chew" offer stronger melodies with subtle hooks, lending some interesting dynamics to this introspective, late-night vibe record.
