Euro-Country (LP)
CMAT
Amoeba Review
CMAT's Euro-Country feels like a game changer of an album. The Irish artist writes songs with throwback pop sensibilities, a bit of country twang, dry humor, and an edge. The title track opens with CMAT singing in Irish Gaelic before shifting to English; it's a sing-a-long-ready, scathing, heartbreaking look at the 2000s financial collapse. How many other artists on the verge of pop stardom can pull off a feat like that? There's more where that came from, too. CMAT is bitingly funny, take-no-prisoners, and always ready to provide an infectious chorus. You've got to hear this album.
