Destroyer's Dan's Boogie is an absolute delight. Dan Bejar swims from genre to genre: expect '60s pop melodies, the occasional heavy riff, Serge Gainsbourgesque lounge vibes, blissful trip-hop-meets-tropicalia. Basically, expect the unexpected...just know you'll be charmed. "Hydroplaning Off the Edge of the World" finds Bejar channeling a cooky mid-century crooner, the vocals moving from woozy poetics to knife-sharp lacerations. Featuring dual vocals from Bejar and Five, "Bologna" is thoroughly entrancing, deliriously wistful and heartbreakingly beautiful.
