Build A Problem (CD)

Amoeba Review
English singer-songwriter Dodie’s debut studio full-length Build a Problem is a low-key charmer that should appeal to fans of lo-fi, introspective songwriting. Dodie’s voice floats above the proceedings, honeyed and lilting, while sweeping strings lend a sense of deep emotional urgency. The melodies are deceptively simple, possessing the ability to evoke a range of emotions from the bittersweet to the defiant. Build a Problem is one of those rare albums that, through its confessional, no holds-barred narrative, seems to give the listener an immediate connection to the songcraft. The tracks here are soft but strong, emotionally raw yet easy to love.
