Adventure Club (CD)
Laura Jane Grace
Amoeba Review
Laura Jane Grace's Adventure Club is punk rock, it's in-your-face, it's sometimes funny as hell. (See "Wearing Black," a chronicle of wearing black to the Pride Parade, with a Jojo Siwa reference.) The choruses are sing-a-long-ready and infectious, the melodies informed by classic punk while tackling very current day concerns. Adventure Club is, at the end of the day, just pure fun — even when Laura Jane Grace is tackling topics like sobriety struggles or mental health. If you dig Laura's previous work, Against Me!, punk rock, and just straight-up excellent songwriting, give this one a spin.
