A Matter of Time [Indie Autumn Edition Rouge Vinyl] (LP)
Laufey
Amoeba Review
Laufey's A Matter of Time sounds like the soundtrack to a technicolor 1950s golden age of Hollywood musical. Lush, lovesick, and filled with showstoppers, from the very start of the album, you can practically see Laufey appear dramatically from behind a chorus of ostrich plume fan-waving chorus girls, the spotlight shining down on the singer with her rich, lovely voice. The album showcases her evolving sound as she teams up once more with longtime producer Spencer Stewart and brings in The National's Aaron Dessner to bring a more vulnerable, emotionally raw side to her jazz style. A Matter of Time is an evocative, immersive jazz-pop record that will stay in regular rotation.
