Memoir Of A Sparklemuffin [Pearl Vinyl] (LP)
Suki Waterhouse
Suki Waterhouse's Memoir of a Sparklemuffin is a dream of an album. The multi-talented Waterhouse (as referenced in the song title "Model, Actress, Whatever") proves once again that she is a musical force to be reckoned with on this pastel-hued garage rock collection informed by elements of post-punk, '60s rock 'n' roll, and moody indie pop. Recorded in the last two months of her pregnancy, Waterhouse named the album after a particularly colorful spider (with a particularly ridiculous moniker) that she saw as a gritty, fabulous, and amusing metaphor for metamorphosis. It'll all make sense once you take a listen — these songs are sparkling and vivacious, with a relatable, droll world view.
True Electric (CD)
Röyksopp
Röyksopp's True Electric is the type of record that just makes you happy to be alive. Crafted to emulate the experience of the duo's live shows, the album consists of 19 studio tracks they performed on their 2023 True Electric tour, the previously unreleased track "The 'R'", and recently-reworked originals and remixes. Guest vocalists include Fever Ray, Robyn, Susanne Sundfør, Alison Goldfrapp — and that's just a sampling of the incredible talent included in the mix. True Electric is pure dancefloor euphoria.
The Penguin: The Complete First Season (BLU)
The Penguin
Following the events of The Batman (2022), the gritty HBO Max series The Penguin finds Colin Farrell reprising his role as the conniving Gotham City mob lieutenant Oz Cobb (aka Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin) as he attempts to exploit the current power vacuum atop the Falcone crime family in pursuit of his own crooked ambitions.
Mahashmashana [Blue Mashup Vinyl] (LP)
Father John Misty
On his tongue-twister of a new album (Mahashmashana means "great cremation ground" in ancient Sanskrit), Josh Tillman - more popularly known as Father John Misty – deftly threads his acerbic wit into his trademark radiant vocals. The mood shifts frequently on songs like “Screamland,” which fluctuates from intensely personal and intimate to a soaring, epic chorus, and on “She Cleans Up,” Father John has recruited the raucous, red-hot Swedish punks Viagra Boys. You don’t need to be a Bronze Age scholar to appreciate the beauty of Mahashmashana .

Aspiral (CD)
Epica
The Dutch symphonic metal band Epica leans into the drama and atmospherics to tremendous effect on their ninth studio album, Aspiral . The single "T.I.M.E." is cinematic and thunderous with singer Simone Simons' gorgeous vocals rising angelically over it all. "Cross The Divide" picks up the energy, surging ahead with those signature double kick drums and fist pump-inducing guitar. These are anthemic, thrilling songs that just might make your morning commute feel like a fantasy adventure.
Dog Man [2025] (BLU)
Peter Hastings
When a faithful police dog and his human police officer owner are injured on the job, a harebrained surgery fuses the two of them together and Dog Man is born. As he embraces his new identity, Dog Man must stop the villainous Petey the Cat (Pete Davidson) from cloning himself and creating an evil kitten to double his evil abilities. The story takes a turn when the kitten forges an unexpected bond with Dog Man and in the process, they discover the power of family.
No Way To Relax When You Are On Fire (LP)
Dora Jar
The cleverly named Dora Jar makes her album debut with No Way to Relax When You Are On Fire . The singer/songwriter's airy voice is a breath of fresh air in an autotuned world, and her debut offers captivating left-of-center pop like the sparkling title track. "Timelapse" and "She Loves Me" are quirky, catchy songs, the latter punctuated by an outro that features a ticking clock and some gymnastics from Jar's flexible pipes. Here is a distinctive new voice that deserves a listen.
If That Makes Sense (CD)
Spacey Jane
On their third studio album, Australian indie rockers Spacey Jane write affecting, addictive songs that always seem to get straight to the heart of the matter. They're also, at times, so catchy and so delightful, you'll get an adrenaline rush just from listening. Wryly named If That Makes Sense , the album's title evokes a need for reassurance even as Spacey Jane gets so vulnerable, insightful, and poignant, you'd swear you were listening to songs describing your own life. If you're not already acquainted with Spacey Jane, this urgent and exceptional record will make you wonder where the band has been all your life.

Skeletá [Violet Vinyl] (LP)
Ghost
Ghost's sixth studio album, Skeletá , has arrived in all its '80s rock-loving glory. Despite lyrics that delve into darker themes and contemporary issues, the songs continue to deliver plenty of satisfyingly catchy hooks and epic guitar solos. Tobias Forge is a master of melody, and "Satanized" is an instant earworm with its strong chorus and lyrics about religion and temptation. "Lachryma" has edgier, hard-rock verses that fit the vampiric theme, but it still soars into an infectious chorus. You just can't beat Ghost for a gratifying chorus.
Surgery And Pleasure (CD)
Vundabar
Vundabar is back and ready to rock on their sixth go-round, Surgery and Pleasure . The vibe sways back and forth on Surgery and Pleasure , like when the ass-shakin’, jangly post-punk of “Hurricane” gives way to the subdued shoegaze-ey pleading of “I Need You.” At times invoking the spirit of Queens of the Stone Age, The Strokes or P.I.L., Vundabar has marked their spot in the indie rock pantheon, and Surgery and Pleasure is further proof they’re here to stay.
Mother (LP)
The Wandering Hearts
The maternal experience is the key thematic element to The Wandering Hearts' stunning new album, titled, (yes) Mother . The folk-meets-Americana melodies perfectly convey the earth-shaking change and confusion of life as a new mother. Growth isn't always easy but it is rewarding, opening up life and one's conception of self into multifaceted new directions: Mother does a wonderful job of capturing these complex moments, with all their challenges and luminosity. With their latest, the UK trio has crafted an album that's poignant, joyful, and deeply moving. There's much to connect with here, whether motherhood is an experience you relate to or not.
People Hear What They See [Cream & Tan Vinyl] (LP)
Oddisee
Fresh, smart, and invigorating, Oddisee's People Hear What They See sounds as vital today as it did when it was first released all the way back in 2012. Oddisee's production is next-level: lush and evocative, sparkling and sensual. His delivery as an MC is irresistible and energetic. This gorgeous album deserves another spin and thankfully, with this top-notch reissue, fans will get another chance. A splendid, sensational record.
