Big Ugly (CD)FustFust’s Big Ugly delivers their explosive, yet sincere, form of southern fried guitar rock in a big, big way. The songs move from beer-fisted radio country to elegiac drones to deconstructed ballads, all with the intimacy of a novel. This album is a story cycle, following the tough-skinned characters who inhabit the small town of Big Ugly as they find meaning in their banal surroundings, where the mystical and the tawdry are two sides of every coin. Boleros Psicodélicos II [Yellow Vinyl] (LP)Adrian QuesadaAdrian Quesada delivers another evocative and enticing take on psych-influenced '60s/'70s era Latin sounds. Boleros Psicodélicos II was co-produced alongside Alex Goose (Childish Gambino, Aaron Frazer) and it is a treat. Ultra hip, cinematic, and grooved out, the album features appearances from the likes of Cuco, Hermanos Gutierrez, Ed Maverick, iLe, Angelica Garcia, and more. Each artist adds their own unique flavor to this sizzling, exhilarating collection while Quesada proves once again that he's one of the most imaginative, exuberant performers in contemporary music. The Mighty Rootsmen (LP)The Mighty RootsmenThe Mighty Rootsmen is an exciting supergroup of reggae legends Toots Hibbert, Gregory Isaacs, Luciano, Mykal Rose, and Sly & Robbie. Their self-titled debut album was recorded in 2009, but is finally getting the release it deserves. The Mighty Rootsmen present vibrant reggae versions of rock classics by artists like Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, The Eagles, and The Steve Miller Band. Kicking off with a joyful take on Petty's "I Won't Back Down," this is a feel-good album with depth and soul. Other highlights include a heartfelt version of "Peace Train" (Cat Stevens) and a lively "Love The One You're With" (Stephen Stills). It's the perfect soundtrack for the summer. Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years (CD)John FogertyLegacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years is both a celebration and reclamation. For the first time, Fogerty fully owns the rights to his music and has recorded new versions of his songs with raw energy and renewed fire. More than a greatest hits album, Legacy celebrates the songs that shaped rock history - on Fogerty's own terms.

Love Chant [Yellow Vinyl] (LP)The LemonheadsThe Lemonheads are back with their first album in two decades. Called Love Chant , it's basically the album you've dreamed of the band making. With Evan Dando now based in Brazil, the album was produced by Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Apollo Nove and brings together a cast of beloved collaborators, both old and new. J. Mascis, Juliana Hatfield, and Tom Morgan return: producer Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Antony and the Johnsons), folk pop artist Erin Rae, John Strohm (Blake Babies) and Nick Saloman (The Bevis Frond) add to the dynamic. The Moldy Peaches' Adam Green has a co-writer credit on “Wild Thing.” Love Chant has that distinctive Lemonheads sound while bringing in some fresh new elements that make this album as much of a firecracker as their classic '80s and '90s era output. Old fans of the band will rejoice while fans of fellow travelers MJ Lenderman and Courtney Barnett will find a new fave. Tremor (LP)Daniel AveryIf you're into shoegaze, post-punk, industrial, or any combination of the three, this album has your number, Daniel Avery's Tremor is captivating from the very first moody moments, with the British DJ/producer recruiting an all-star cast of collaborators to imbue these exceptional tracks with deep emotional resonance and utterly gorgeous vocals. Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Walter Schreifels (Quicksand / Rival Schools), bdrmm, Julie Dawson (NewDad), yeule, Ellie, Art School Girlfriend, yunè pinku, and Cecile Believe deliver standout and often surprising performances. Cecile Believe's turn on "Rapture in Blue" is a heart-in-your-throat dream pop track that drips with longing and desire. Alison Mosshart is scary cool before becoming a full-on menace on the industrial-informed "Greasy off the Racing Line." Julie Dawson sings like a siren over early Cocteau Twins-esque arrangements on "The Ghost of Her Smile." A ridiculously beautiful, entrancing album. The Bad Fire (CD)MogwaiMogwai sound as brilliant, innovative, and delightful as ever on their latest. The Bad Fire is working-class Glaswegian slang for "hell," a name the band chose to reflect the challenging times the band members were each experiencing when they got together to start work on the album. This is no "depths of despair" album, though. Instead, it sounds like someone crawling their way out of the pit, with panache, grace, and sense of humor intact. Album opener "God Gets You Back" is a hushed, urgent, desperately beautiful ambient track. "Fanzine Made of Flesh" is a driving, '80s synth number with woozy Vocoder vocals. An intensely adventurous album that manages to find joy and hope amidst it all. Cornucopia: Live (LP)BjörkIf you experienced Bjork's Cornucopia concert tour in person, you already know what an all-encompassing, enchanting, and extraordinary world Bjork and her team built. If you weren't there, Cornucopia Live will usher you in. Backed by the Icelandic Hamrahlid Choir, a revolving cast of on-stage guests, and a live band with flutes, a harp, percussion section, electronics, and strange and wonderful bespoke instruments, this tour was like stepping into a fairytale world where sound meets technology meets nature. Cornucopia Live is a multi-disc recording of the experience, an album that brings the sublime wonder and beauty of the show into your home. There are live recordings and then there is Cornucopia Live .

Again [Sky Blue Vinyl] (LP)The Belair Lip BombsThe Belair Lip Bombs are the first Australian band signed to Third Man Records. Again demonstrates just what makes this band so special: this indie rock album is addictive, emotionally stirring, and jam-packed with incredible melodies. Power-pop, post-punk, and garage rock influences combine to powerful effect in these songs that will alternately break your heart and get your toes tapping. (Or both! At the same time!) Again is a dream for fans of female-led garage with a post-punk edge. Psycho Warrior (MG Ultra X) [Opaque Galaxy Vinyl] (LP)Machine GirlMachine Girl is one of the most boundary-pushing, exciting acts in contemporary music. Their latest, Psycho Warrior (MG Ultra X) , is filled with righteous anger and riot energy. The band fuses punk rock, electronic, industrial, metal, and noise into a searing sound that recalls Atari Teenage Riot while delivering their own version of controlled chaos. Machine Girl translates all the inner despair, fury, and defiance so many have been feeling into a record that's perfect for the present moment. All My Angels [Clear Smoke Vinyl] (LP)SpeedAll My Angels is the searing, intense, and powerful new EP from Aussie hardcore act Speed. These songs are hardcore at its finest: they will absolutely pummel you, with hard-hitting percussion, growling riffs, gutpunch lyrics, and impassioned vocals. But there's more to this short-but-(bitter)sweet 3-song EP than classic genre appeal. The band wrote these songs as a way to process the grief of losing three close friends in recent years and you can feel that deep emotional pull in each track, through the anger and angst of the vocals, through the experimental (and well-executed) infusion of mundanely beautiful samples and textured synths. All My Angels proves that Speed is something truly special. Anything Is Possible (CD)Chris StameyThe indie rock icon’s (The dBs, Alex Chilton) new solo album features guests like The Lemon Twigs and Wilco’s Pat Sansone in a set of shimmering, classic pop tunes. With nods to The Beach Boys and other ‘60s pop legends, it’s a charmingly nostalgic affair.
