King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard preorder Polygondwanaland LP + preorder Polygondwanaland CD

The just announced San Francisco shows with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard at the Warfield (June 2), Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (whose latest release is New Waves) at the Regency Ballroom (Feb 19), Oliver Heldens at the Regency (Mar 30), and Taylor Bennett/Restoration of an American Idol Tour at Social Hall SF (March 23) all officially go on sale tomorrow (Friday Jan 12 at 10am). But each of these GoldenVoice produced shows go on early exclusive pre-sale today (Jan 11th) at 10am until 10pm local Pacific time, with the use of a specific password for each show. (King Gizzard tix password = RATTLESNAKE, Bone-Thugs tix password = BROTHERS, Taylor Bennett tix password = RESTORATION, Oliver Heldens tix password = FUNK).

Greetings from the "Mile High City" of Denver CO where this Amoeblog weekly Hip-Hop Rap Up is being  posted from and where there are a variety of excellent hip-hop shows this week including the Bay Area's Hieroglyphics ensemble who play a recommended show tomorrow night (Feb. 25th). Just as their Bay Area shows over the past many months, so too will the beloved longtime East Bay hip-hop collective's lineup feature all the original crew members including Del The Funky Homosapien, Souls Of Mischief, Casual, Pep Love and Domino when they perform at the Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom (16+ Tix $28 - $32) Feb 25th with opening acts Whisky Blanket, (Minneapolis hip-hop artist to watch out for) Sean Anonymous, Old Man Saxon, and Kruza Kid.

Noise Pop 2017


Noise Pop, the Bay Area’s premiere indie music and arts festival, returns with events all over San Francisco and Oakland, February 17 - 27! The festival will celebrate its 25th anniversary with an array of amazing performances not only from national music acts, but also from an impressive variety of established and up-and-coming Bay Area artists.

This year's line-up includes live shows from Vince Staples, Ty Segall, Hanni El Khatib, Deafheaven, MSTRKRFT, BadBadNotGood, Dawes, The Radio Dept., Los Campesinos!, Cloud Nothings, Shannon and the Clams, Rogue Wave, and so many more. The film portion of the festival also promises to be amazing with screenings of 11 films, including Gary Numan: Android in La La Land, Hired Gun, and The Colossus of Destiny: A Melvins Tale.

The Best  "What's In My Bag?" episodes of 2016

Season 9 of What's In My Bag? kicked off with our first double feature - one episode featuring all the members of Future Islands and a second video with the lead singer, Sam Herring, devoted to his hip hop picks. And from there we barreled headlong into the first weeks of 2016 with several of our favorite episodes, including Savages, The Internet, and Flea & Amy-Jo Albany. We had a lot of fun this season and we were fortunate enough to talk to an electronic music pioneer, a celebrated film director, a Supreme, a Japanese artist and producer, a fashion designer, and many, many more.

The Internet

The six members of LA-based soul band The Internet definitely brought the fun while sharing a few of the artists and albums that impacted them growing up. Their lighthearted goofiness and easy dynamic was pure entertainment, but their picks were genuine and from the heart.

Vince Staples Amoeba Music What's In My Bag?

What did Long Beach rapper Vince Staples pick up when he recently went shopping at Amoeba Hollywood? Well, how about Joy Division's classic debut album, Unknown Pleasures, whose artwork inspired his latest album cover, Summertime '06. "A lot of people don't know that," he says, "but, you know, sometimes you gotta tell on yourself."

His career began with a series of mixtapes, including Stolen Youth, which featured guest performances by Mac Miller, Ab-Soul, and ScHoolboy Q; he also appeared on tracks by Earl Sweatshirt and Jhene Aiko. In 2014 Staples joined ScHoolboy Q on his Oxymoron tour and dropped his first official EP, Hell Can Wait.
