We're all in the same boat right now and, although that boat feels like it's on fire and slowly sinking, we're going to be fine as long as we stay away from public gatherings, practice social distancing, and DON'T FREAK OUT. I'm not exactly an expert on not freaking out, but one surefire way I've learned to avoid panic, anxiety, and generalized freak-outs is the pleasure of escape into music, movies, books, and really any kind of art for that matter.

Luckily, the post offices are still making deliveries, and Amoeba.com is open for business with free shipping on music and movies to the U.S. New releases continue to appear in the world, like freshly sprung sprouts after a destructive storm (or something like that), and I'll be here with you throughout this insanity, letting you know about the neat new titles that you can have delivered to your door.

Here's some new Blu-ray & DVD releases that came out today, Tuesday, March 17th:

Jumanji: The Next Level
A team of friends return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own but discover that nothing is as they expect. The players need to brave parts unknown, from arid deserts to snowy mountains, in order to escape the world's most dangerous game. Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, and Danny DeVito will keep your head in this game.

SHE, RKO

SheBy Kai Wada Roath
Ambassador of Confusion Hill and host of the Super Shangri-La Show

"I am yesterday, and today, and tomorrow. I am sorrow, and longing, and hope unfulfilled. I am Hash-A-Mo-Tep. She. She who must be obeyed! I am I."
~She, Queen Hash-A-Mo-Tep of Kor

It was during my time at Ahwahnee Junior high, in a charming California town named after ash trees, that the signs started appearing to me. The first sign was watching Nancy Kwan in her luxurious bath, rubbing her aging, yet mysteriously young looking body with Oriental Pearl Cream during the commercial breaks on channel 53.

The second sign, was being repeatedly zapped by Commander Borf's “Infanto Ray” and turning into a young Space Ace going through puberty at the Festival Game Palace.

The third sign was when I did a report in history on Ponce de Leon searching for the Fountain of Youth.

Then, still at age 13, I bought a cassette of the Hoodoo Gurus and first heard their song "SHE."

It was an epic fantasy love ballad that's lyrics I did not quite understand...and it would not be for another 20 years that I would put the connection of that song with H. Rider Haggard’s novel of the same name, after watching the 1945 version of the film, She, directed by the great Merian C. Cooper of King Kong fame. (And it would be 30 years after getting that tape, that I would find out the singer, Dave Faulkner, was the singer for the inspirational, late-70’s punk band The Victims.)

New Green Room Session with Marlon Williams

Marlon Williams Amoeba Green Room Sessions

New Zealand singer/songwriter Marlon Williams swung by Amoeba Hollywood recently for cool Green Room Session with his backing band The Yarra Benders, comprised of Gus Agars, Dave Khan, and Ben Woolley. The set starts with the darkly romantic "Vampire Again," a jangly, indie croon that builds to a shoegaze-y, fuzzy freak out. Next up is the Misfits/Damned horror-pop, by way of Johnny Marr, "Party Boy," an uptempo, punchy dance rocker from his latest LP release, Make Way For Love, which is available now via Dead Oceans.

Williams is currently touring Australia and Europe.
