There are hundreds of excellent soundtracks that could easily fit into many Top Ten lists. This is my attempt to grab ten of the best. Caveat Emptor!
10. Reservoir Dogs (1992)
The songs on the Reservoir Dogs soundtrack truly create the atmosphere and character development for the film. Brilliant.
9. Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Tape Vol. 1 (2014)
Easily could be Reservoir Dogs Vol. 2, but the music is used so well that it transcends that critique. The mix tape is so essentially Star-Lord that is defines his motivations in the movie.
8. Boogie Nights Vol. 1 (1997)

There were lots of soundtrack releases to choose from this year, with many limited edition color vinyl versions creating excitement and selling out fast. Soundtracks play an incredibly important role in films by directors Quentin Tarantino, David Lynch, and Nicolas Winding Refn, so it's no surprise that they each had two soundtracks appear on this list. Music from Star Wars films, new and old, made it on this list as well. Read on to see what made each soundtrack release so special.
20. Various Artists - Suicide Squad: The Album
Although the movie was not incredibly well-received by critics, the soundtrack - which features Skrillex, Twenty One Pilots, G-Eazy, Panic! at the Disco, Eminem & more - landed it into our top sellers of the year.
Amoeba Hollywood was buzzing with some recent "What's In My Bag?" guests.
First, we had Serj Tankian, solo artist and frontman for System of a Down. He was particuarly interested in film music, including composers Ennio Morricone and John Williams. His choices were mostly from the jazz room, although he did select a Sigur Ros album and Mondo Cane by his friend Mike Patton. Serj actually came in that day inquiring about the experimental section which is now located in the jazz room, so technically Mondo Cane is also a jazz room pick. As for the rest of his picks and what he said about each one, you'll have to wait for the video!
Serj just announced a North American tour in support of his new solo album, Harakiri. You can see him live in Los Angeles September 28 at Club Nokia.
