Caroline Munro

Do you remember the face that Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli made when he was surprised by the Lone Ranger for his birthday on the "Hi Yo, Fonzie Away" episode of Happy Days? For I had that same expression of unbelievable awe as a young lad when I first saw Caroline Munro appear in her harem costume in the Golden Voyage of Sindbad. (If you need a refresher on being struck in such awe, just watch Lynda Carter do six minutes of Wonder Woman spin transformations.)

Caroline, who is a Capricorn, is known by most for her superb acting abilities in fantasy-action, science Caroline Munro in Dracula A.D. 1972fiction, and the Hammer horror films of the 1970s (such as Dracula A.D. 1972 and Captain Kronos - Vampire Hunter, a favorite of the famed ventriloquist comedian, Hiroshi Hasagawa).

A Great Time For Weird At SF's Balboa Theatre: Starcrash & Korla

Starcrash

If you've been thinking that you need more weird in your life, then I've got the next two Wednesdays planned Starcrashout for ya. You'll be spending a lot of time at a little theater at the edge of San Francisco's universe, the historic Balboa, which is just blocks from the beach in the fabulously foggy Outer Richmond district. A mysterious entity known only as Super Shangri-La Show (their Facebook page claims only, "Presenting Movies, Music & Magic Shows!") is presenting two screenings that are not to be missed.

On Wednesday, August 18th at 7:30pm, the super low-budget spectacular Starcarsh (aka The Adventures of Stella Star) graces the screen in all of its seedy glory. Released in 1978, this epic stars Marjoe Gortner, Caroline Munro, Christopher Plummer, David Hasselhoff, and Joe Spinell in roles of a lifetime. If you enjoy your space operas populated by robots and scantily clad sexy space amazons, then I'll see you there. Plus, there will be trivia and prizes, so start studying now!

Advanced tickets HERE. Facebook invite HERE.

On the following Wednesday, August 26th, the long-awaited Korla Panditdocumentary about the life of enigmatic Hollywood organist Korla Pandit shows at 7pm. Korla tells the amazing story of this spiritual seeker, television pioneer, and godfather of exotica music who took the world by storm in the 1950s. Who was this man of mystery? What were his origins? What's under the turban? Find out in Korla. One night only, folks! The filmmakers John Turner and Eric Christensen will be there for a live Q&A!

Dreams Can Come True: Boy Shakira

Posted by Miss Ess, June 22, 2007 07:46pm | Post a Comment
Yes, I can admit it.  I watched "America's Got Talent" this week.....

and I am so glad I did, so stop snickering and watch Boy Shakira!  You know you wanna...

She is flawless.  She must have that wig bolted to her head!  I love her.

I have never even seen this show before and the two minutes I caught made me feel so good I wanted to share it with all of you!  Boy Shakira won me over in a snap.

On the extreme other end of the spectrum, who knew what a raging homophobe the Hoff is?  He has some anger management issues too.  After the commercial he stormed off set to his dressing room because he didn't agree with the other judges' decision and had the be coaxed back to the judging chair for the next act.  What a loser.  I couldn't find that part on YouTube though.  At least Sharon Osbourne gets it.
