On Saturday, April 13th, Amoeba SF, along with hundreds of independently owned music stores around the world, celebrated Record Store Day. We opened at 8am for the first time in our 12-year history of RSD-ing. This may sound crazy early, but we opened the doors to a line that went down Haight Street, around the corner onto Stanyan, and down to Waller! RSD limited edition releases is what this crowd of early risers was after. If you missed the boat on this holy day, fear not as we still have a few titles online HERE.

In addition to the RSD limited edition releases, Amoeba SF had DJs from 8am to 3pm, setting the tone for the shopping extravaganza. Massive kudos to all of our DJs (Maria Victoria & Dizzy Miss Lizzy of Black Rhythm Happening, Mario Muse, Carolyn Keddy, Smash Hunter, B-Side Brujas, Digital KitKat), but most of all to DJ Bearzbub who played a bitchin' 8am set that has us all dancing in the aisles.

Yes, another glorious Record Store Day has come and gone, but that doesn't mean you need to wait another year the celebrate the virtues of vinyl. All three Amoeba Music locations are open year-round, fighting the good fight and listening to the righteous tunes.

Here's some photos from Saturday. Please see the complete set HERE.

Elohim

San Francisco's California Academy of Sciences' NightLife LIVE summer music series returns August 9th and doubles as the official Outside Lands Music Festival kick-off party. Electro-pop singer/songwriter Elohim will light up the night with her enigmatic and energetic set. East Bay rapper Caleborate opens the night with tracks from his latest album, 1993. The Oakland-based all-female, all-vinyl club B-Side Brujas will bring all the vibes with old-school soul and funky R&B throwbacks throughout the night.

Also make sure you explore a new art installation by frequent Burning Man collaborator Martin Taylor of the art collective Chromaforms in the West Garden. Keep your senses stimulated between sets with VR experiences by Dream Logic and Vision Quest, which offer new perspectives on the natural world. Saturday, April 21, 2018, marked the eleventh year of what has become the greatest holiday on earth. Yes, Amoeba SF, along with hundreds of independently owned music stores across the world, celebrated Record Store Day and it was glorious. We opened at 9am this year to a line that went down Haight Street and around the corner onto Stanyan, and around the corner again onto Waller! What could possibly make music fans line up so early on a Saturday, you ask? Why, limited edition releases, of course! This year's smash hits included Phish's Billy Breathes, a reissue of Chicano Batman's debut album, Arcade Fire on translucent blue vinyl, and so many more.

Folks were also lined up to get this year's limited edition Amoeba SF RSD t-shirt (screen printed by our friends at Free Gold Watch), partake in our sales, and groove to the happening sounds of our guest DJs Bearzbub, Simon Guzman, and The B-Side Brujas. At 1pm, a whole new crop of fans showed up to see Twin Shadow perform live.
