Jewelry (Mongoloid Banks)

#2 Planet Asia All Gold Everything (Air Vinyl)

#4  Elcamino  Elcamino (Next Records)

#5  Jaden Smith ERYS (Roc Nation)

While technically Your Old Droog's Jewelry (pictured left) is a 2019 release, this late December  digital album release is just now getting its welcome follow up physical release on CD care of the Mongoloid Banks record label with vinyl to no doubt follow in the near future. One of an impressive three high-caliber albums released last year by the prolific talented Brooklyn hip-hop artist also known by his initials as YOD, it followed the emcee's other 2019 albums It Wasn’t Even Close 2LP (also on CD) and his Transportation 2LP (also on CD).  MF Doom and Mach-Hommy, who made cameos on It Wasn’t Even Close return to lend their talents to Jewelry by both joining Your Old Droog on the standout track "BDE."

The hard working Haitian emcee and producer from New Jersey Mach-Hommy also collaborates on two other of the album's dozen tracks; the attention grabbing “Desert Eagle” and the album's opener “Shamash.”  Another album collaborator (on the track "Stoop Kid") is Tha God Fahim whose own solo album Lost Kingz LP (also on CD) dropped just two weeks ago via Nature Sounds/Fat Beats.  The final/fourth album collaborator is Matisyahu who joins YOD on the lead single “Jew Tang” (see music video above) as well as on the song’s reworking / album closing track “Jew Tang Forever [The Reprise].”

Elcamino is Buffalo NY rapper made famous via his membership of the hella hyped Griselda Records label/collective for whom a few months ago he released the Elcamino 2 EP project. This new arrival at Amoeba, Elcamino via Next Records, is its somewhat slept-on predecessor from a couple of years earlier. This eight song release boasts cameos from Griselda partner Westside Gunn and crew/label founder Conway (aka Conway The Machine) as well as Prodigy of Mobb Deep fame.  Prolific hardest working Fresno CA emcee Planet Asia, who last year in addition to his own numerous solo project releases also collaborated with a long list of other artists, has a new release in Amoeba this week; All Gold Everything (Air Vinyl). Also stylized as A.G.E. it was initially released in late 2019 via GOLD CHAIN MUSIC. The seven track release’s many bangers include “Everything I Want,” “Chain Warriors” and “Guardians Of The Sacred (feat. Defari, Montage One & TriState).”
The other two releases rounding out the top five albums this week include ERYS from pop/hip-hop artist Jaden Smith (the guest-heavy second album from the 21 year old son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith) that includes such guests as Tyler, the Creator and Kid Cudi, and My Turn (Capitol) from Lil Baby. The latest from the Atlanta, GA artist, My Turn was reviewed by Amoeba as “much-hyped” but “the hype is well-deserved. Hell, it's all good news with a star-studded list of collaborators, including Lil Uzi Vert, Future, Young Thug, Lil Wayne, Rylo Rogriguez, Gunna, and Moneybagg Yo. With heady street beats, Baby's mile-a-minute flow and clever, unexpected lyrics, My Turn is a strong contender for most intriguing ATL rap album of the year.”

Hip-Hop Vinyl New Arrivals Top 5: 03:02:2020

#1: The Treacherous Three Whip It 180 Gram Red Vinyl LP (Music On Vinyl)

#2: Smif-N-Wessun "Wrekonize (Remix)" 7" single (Wreck Records)

#3: Smif-N-Wessun  "Bucktown" 7” single  (Wreck Records)

#4: TiRon & Ayomari   A Sucker For Pumps 2LP (The Cafeteria Line)

#5: D.I.T.C. The Official Version 2LP  (DITC)

Whip It 180 Gram Red Vinyl LP (Music On Vinyl) is the lovingly reissued and repressed on 180 gram, red colored vinyl album from the hip-hop pioneering late 1970's founded NYC crew The Treacherous Three consisting of Kool Moe Dee, LA Sunshine, and Special K (plus DJ Easy Lee). Initially released 37 years ago (back in 1983 on Sugar Hill Records) as the group's album debut compilation record of all their early era landmark songs, the six extended song recordings include the title track, "Feel the Heart Beat" and “The Body Rock.”

Another new reissue to delight vinyl collectors is  TiRon & Ayomari's A Sucker For Pumps LP (The Cafeteria Line) that was originally released just under a decade ago in 2011 and features such guests as the then relatively unknown LA artists Thundercat and Anderson .Paak

There's not one but two new hot nineties seven inch reissues from legendary longtime Brooklyn New York hip-hop power duo Smif-N-Wessun; who last year marked their return with the powerful Duck Down Records release The All LP. The two new mid-nineties seven inch reissues are
"Wrekonize (Remix)" 7" single and "Bucktown" 7” single  from 1995 and 1994 respectively.  Note that because of the fact that these classic nineties Nervous / Wreck singles come all the way from from the UK via Above Board Distribution it makes it them import level pricing, but still worth it to the true hip-hop collector or DJ.  Another NYC classic, one that is already two weeks in the crates at Amoeba, is the new pressing of the legendary D.I.T.C. (Diggin' In The Crates) collective's; The Official Version 2LP  (DITC) that was released in 2000 but recorded in the late nineites years leading up to then. Rest in beats Big L and Big Pun of the Diggin' In The Crates crew whose upcoming release, the D.I.T.C. Studios Vol. 2 CD (to arrive in Amoeba March 13th) can be pre-ordered now at this link.
